At Least 21 Children Hospitalized After Drinking Slushies with Common — and Legal — Ingredient, Study Finds

TheArchives of Disease in Childrenreported that 21 children aged 2-6 were sent to hospitals unconscious in the U.K. and Ireland after becoming “acutely unwell” from consuming slushies from 2009 through 2024. According to the study, 93% of the children became unwell “within 60 minutes” of drinking the slush ice drinks, which contained the sweetener glycerol — used to create the “slush” effect — possibly causing glycerol intoxication.

At Least 28 People Killed After Bus Plunges More Than 2,500 Feet into Ravine: Reports

At least 28 people have been killed in a bus accident this week on a mountainous road in Bolivia, according to multiple news outlets. The vehicle went roughly 2,600 feet down into a ravine in the southwestern district of Yocalla after the driver lost control along the route on Monday, Feb. 17,the BBC,Reutersand local outletUnitelreported. The number was later lowered to 28 deaths but police are still searching for more fatalities.
