WhenBridget McGingclosed on her fixer-upper house on March 10, 2023, on Chicago’s north side, she was eager to renovate the attic. Starting that October, her dad Bill, a retired contractor, came over daily to help with the project.
Their routine began with coffee in the living room, where they chatted and listened to Bill’s stories before starting work.

A father and son from Arizona just found the second-largest diamond registered at Crater of Diamonds State Park this year.
Will and Marshall Barnett, of Buckeye, visited the famous park in late July while on a “boys’ week” road trip after learning about it through an uncle, according to a news release fromArkansas State Parks.

Mark Mabry isn’t a big traditions guy, but there’s one that’s become a big part of his life.
As a child, every year for Christmas, Mark’s parents surprised his sisters with a new dress each to wear that day. So, when Mark welcomed his daughter,Ava, with his wife in 2006, he thought it would be fun to keep this ritual alive.
For her first Christmas, Mark, now 47, shopped around and purchased a red dress for Ava to wear to church, along with festive shoes and a red diaper cover.

The body of a 45-year-old Wisconsin dad has been found in an overturned car two days after he disappeared following a work event.
Benjamin Oberto, of New Berlin, was found dead on Friday, Nov. 15, inside a Subaru Impreza that was “partially submerged in a creek” at the bottom of an embankment in Rosemont, Ill., according to a news release from theIllinois State Police(ISP).
