A woman is claiming a Florida surgeon who operated on her husband caused his death when the doctor removed his liver instead of his spleen.
According toFlorida law, a pre-suit process — which may include convening with a panel that includes an attorney, health care provider, and a claims adjuster — must occur before filing a lawsuit.

The Florida teenager who was caught on video assaulting a teacher’s aide after she took away his Nintendo Switch was sentenced to five years in state prison, according to news outlets.
Judge Terence Perkins also ordered the Department of Corrections to conduct a full mental health assessment on Depa and to create a care plan for him, and ordered the teenager not to have any contact with the teacher’s aide, Joan Naydich.

Tree trimmer dies in wood chipper accident in Ocean Ridge, Florida.
A Florida tree trimmer has died after getting caught in a wood chipper.
The tragic accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28 as a contracted tree trimming vendor was working at Ocean Ridge Town Hall, the Ocean Ridge Police Department announced in a Facebookpost.
“Upon arrival, Ocean Ridge officers found one person had died from injuries sustained in the accident, no other individuals on scene sustained injuries,” police said.

Officials in Florida and beyond are encouraging residents to stay prepared for the potential of another hurricane as Tropical Storm Milton is expected to intensify and approach the state.
Per the NHC, Milton is projected to “move eastward to northeastward” across the Gulf of Mexico and be “at or near major hurricane strength” when reaching Florida.
“There is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge and wind impacts for portions of the west coast of the Florida Peninsula beginning late Tuesday or Wednesday,” the NHC shared of Milton.
