Billy Horschelcame face to face with an unexpected competitor during his latest stop on the PGA Tour.
Spectators at the Cognizant Classic on Thursday, Feb. 27, were shocked when an alligator made its way to the course — except for Horschel, 38.
The unexpected scene occurred just as the golfer had finished his sixth hole at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

The golfer struggled with his mental health for years — he checked in to rehab in 2021 for alcohol abuse and he had also sought help for anxiety and depression, his parents said.
Yet on the road, he would “drink and gamble,” Terry added, while putting on a “happy face” while on the tour.
“Our house became his safe haven,” she said.

In aPEOPLE-exclusive first lookat the episode, airing Tuesday, Feb. 18, the star’s plastic fork breaks as he attempts to cut into a steak at the NOLA restaurant, which has “no metal forks,” per the chef. “How the f— am I supposed to get into my steak?” Ramsay asks his server, who seemingly has no response.
“I’ve never ever, ever, ever sent food back because I can’t cut into it,” the star then reveals.
