John David “JD” Souther, known for his collaborations with artists such as theEagles,James TaylorandLinda Ronstadt, has died. He was 78.
The 2013 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee — who was born in Detroit, Michigan, but raised in Amarillo, Texas — previously had a band called Longbranch Pennywhistle with the Eagles’Glenn Frey, after they met in Los Angeles in the late ’60s.

The2025 SAG Awardshave named their choice for outstanding female actor in a comedy series!Jean Smartwon the award for her performance inHacksduring the event, taking place at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, Calif., on Feb. 23. The actress was not there to accept the award, but presentersMolly ShannonandKumail Nanjianishared a message following her big win.“Unfortunately, Jean is shooting on location and can’t be here tonight, but we accept this award on her behalf,” Shannon said.

Jean Smartis the proud mother of two children: Connor and Forrest Gilliland.
Smart and Gilliland were married for nearly 34 years before the actordied at the age of 71, following a “brief illness," in March 2021. Afterward, Smart continued raising their kids on her own, something she called “unimaginable,” especially considering Forrest was 12 at the time.
