17-Year-Old High School Senior Dies Days After Car Crash: 'Beautiful Young Girl'

A teen who died following a car crash in Massachusetts is being remembered as a “beautiful young girl” who “just lit up the place.”

The jaws of life were used to remove the Straub, who was unresponsive, from the car before she was airlifted to a hospital, according to police.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of the victim,” Duxbury Police said.

In a post on social media, theHobomock Parent Teacher Organization(PTO) mourned the teen’s death.

“Pembroke has lost an amazing & beautiful young girl, Maddie Straub in a car accident,” the Hobomock PTO shared in a Sept. 17 Facebook post. “Maddie lived in Pembroke and was a senior at Silver Lake High School.”

In an interview with Fox affiliateWFXT, George Howe, a board member with Pembroke Youth Baseball and Softball, said that Straub was a “sweetheart of a girl” who had a big smile.

“When she laughed, she just lit up the place,” added Howe. “She was just that type of kid — just a great, great kid.”

AMeal Trainfundraiser has been established to help her family, which has raised over $22,000 as of Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Silver Lake Warriors Football,a youth football program, also said they are accepting donations on behalf of the girl’s family at all Saturday home games, writing: “Your generosity and support are deeply appreciated as we come together to help them through this difficult time.”
