In his first game with the team, the quarterback suffered a torn Achilles tendon that took him out for the entire season.

Rodgers recovered and started in every game for the Jets during the 2024 season with lackluster results, finishing 5-13 and missing the playoffs.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, the organization announced that they were ready to move on.

In a statement, head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey said, “Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback.”

After more than a decade with the Packers and two years on the Jets, Rodgers is adding “journeyman” to his resume.

Upon leaving Wisconsin in 2023, he shared his excitement about a new destination.

“We’ve all turned the page. It’s a new chapter,” he said at the time. “I think it’s going to be exciting for Green Bay, moving on. It’s definitely been really fun for me out here.”
