Abandoned Dog in Recovery After Being 'Drenched' in Motor Oil and Left 'Barely Hanging On'

A dog found “drenched in motor oil” in Alabama is now in recovery.On Thursday, Sept. 12,the Montgomery Humane Societytook in a male dog named Chance, who rescuers found “soaking wet” after someone left behind the oil-covered canine.The shelter shared in a Sept. 13Facebookpost that it rushed the pup to a partnering veterinarian for treatment. “Upon arrival to the vet, he was barely hanging on due to severe anemia and the amount of oil he likely inhaled and ingested,” Montgomery Humane wrote. “The vet’s primary concern at the time was stabilizing him.“The humane society included two photos with the post. The first shows Chance, bundled in a white towel, receiving a blood transfusion while lying on a table covered in a blue blanket. The second image shows the sweet pup looking at the camera as he is propped on the table with yellow surgical tape on his front leg.Dog found covered in motor oil.Montgomery Humane Society Adoptable Pets/FacebookAccording to the post, Chance was “given fluids, a blood transfusion, and activated charcoal to help rid his body of toxins.” The organization also shared that the dog was “touch and go” throughout the medical treatment but is currently in recovery.Further examination showed that the canine suffered multiple injuries, including his hip being out of socket and a broken pelvis.
