Actor Diego Boneta Announces His Debut NovelThe Undoing of Alejandro Velasco — See The Cover! (Exclusive)

Diego Bonetais taking his creative talents from the screen to the page — and then back to the screen again!

The 33-year-old actor (known for his roles in projects likeRock of Ages,Scream QueensandLuis Miguel: The Series)is now moving into the literary world with his debut novelThe Undoing of Alejandro Velasco, set to hit shelves next May — and PEOPLE can exclusively reveal its cover.

But don’t fret — Boneta isn’t giving up acting just yet. Rather, the novel (billed asThe Talented Mr. RipleymeetsMatch Point) is already slated for a series adaptation at Amazon MGM Studios with Boneta starring as the mysterious main character, Julian Villareal.

Oliver Goldstick and Natalia Castells-Esquivel will be writing the script with PKM Productions' Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird, StoryGiants' Lauren Oliver and Lexa Hillyer, and Boneta and Natalia Boneta on board as non-writing executive producers.

The novel and series cover the unexpected death of the titular tennis star and the events that follow. “After Alejandro Velasco is found dead, a handsome stranger [Julian] visits the family,” an official synopsis reads. “But when this newcomer’s secrets collide with those of Alejandro’s sister, sparks fly — and blood is shed.”

After Julian arrives at Velasco’s estate to pay his respects, “he soon becomes entwined in the Velasco family’s glamorous lifestyle — and their daughter Sofia’s mysterious allure,” the synopsis continues. But even as they play with each other, on and off the court, Julian’s got a secret: Alejandro’s death was no accident.
