Alfonso Ribeiro Can’t Wait to Show Off His 20-Lb. Weight Loss onDancing With the Stars(Exclusive)

Alfonso Ribeirois ready to put on his dancing shoes and show off his recent weight loss.

With the upcoming return ofDancing With the StarsandAmerica’s Funniest Home Videos, the celebrity host, 52, tells PEOPLE that he recently lost 20 lbs., which he believes will be noticeable on the small screen.

Speaking about the dance reality competition show, which he co-hosts withJulianne Hough, Ribeiro says, “I know that it’s going to be a tight season and we are gonna have some fun. It’s gonna be great and the dancing will be better than ever.”

The actor continues to speak about his weight loss. “And I’ve lost 20 pounds, so now I’m like, ‘Oh, I think I might look a little better when they ask me to do some of the little dances in the opening numbers.’ So you know, I am ready to rock,” he says.

TheFresh Prince of Bel-Airalum has not given too many details about his lifestyle changes, but has spoken in the past about howhis wife Angela Unkrichshares herpassion for healthy eatingon Instagram.

Last October, Ribeiro revealed on theTamron HallShowthat his familychanged their dieteight years after “a health situation with one of my kids…my little dude.”

He said further, “He had a health issue and we learned how to feed him.”

Now, the host said, “We live a completely non-toxic life where we don’t eat any sugar, gluten-free, corn-free, dairy-free, oats-free, anything that makes you swollen, we typically stay away from.”

Ribeiro has a busy month ahead of him withDancing with the Starsset to returnon Sept. 17 andAmerica’s Funniest Home Videospremiering its milestone 35th season on Sept. 29.

“It is a lot of work to do two shows at once. But you know, they are two shows that I absolutely adore and love, and couldn’t be more proud to be a part of,” Ribeiro tells us. “Obviously, withAFVcoming back, this is their 35th season [and] my 10th season as the host. This is going to be special and I am excited to get back to the laughter and the fun.”

On the topic of the dancing competition, he teases that “they are putting together all the names and things are getting close,” noting he does not yet know who will star in the season. “I am excited to see who we’ve got this year. I’m sure, obviously, with an Olympic year, I’m hoping we have a few Olympians, and it should be a fantastic season,” he says.

He told PEOPLE thatit took some convincingto go on the voyage, but now he has nothing but positive memories. “[I] didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did. It was kind of a shock. But I really, really enjoyed it. It was really a fun time. The kids really loved it [ and] my wife loved it,” he said.
