She first became a grandmother in 2006 when her younger son Edoardo welcomed a daughter, Lucia, with his wife, actress Sasha Alexander. One year later, her second grandchild and first grandson, Vittorio, was born to Carlo and his wife, Andrea Meszaros Ponti.

All of her grandkids were born in Geneva, where she lives, and they have a close relationship with Loren, supporting her endeavors — including her restaurant openings — and attending awards shows with her.

While Sasha was pregnant with Lucia, Edoardo wrote a collection of poems for his soon-to-be-daughter, which he published in a 2018 book titledLetters from a Young Father.

“All these letter poems were addressed to my daughter, almost like a blueprint on how to live, how to love, how to remember,” he toldMilwaukee’s 89.7 FMin June 2018.

While Lucia has grown up mainly out of the spotlight, her parents frequently post photos and videos of her. Sasha shareda clip on Instagramof the pair attendingTaylor Swift’s Inglewood show as part of herEras Tour, where the mother-daughter duo showed off their dance skills — something Lucia is passionate about. She has beendancing competitivelyfor several years, taking after her mom’s love of the art.

Vittorio Leone Ponti, 16

Carlo Jr. and his wife Andrea welcomed their first child, a son named Vittorio Leone Ponti, on April 2, 2007. He is Loren’s second grandchild and first grandson.

Vittorio has garnered several awards for his piano abilities, including the division’s first prize at the 2019 Southern California Junior Bach Festival Complete Works Audition Competition, and he was one of the top finalists at the 2023 International School of Geneva’s Instrumental Music Competition.

He will make his orchestraldebut as a piano soloistat the Los Angeles Virtuosi Orchestra in January 2024.

Leonardo Fortunato Ponti, 13

Edoardo and Sasha celebrated the arrival of their second child, Leonardo Fortunato Ponti, on Dec. 20, 2010.

“We are so thrilled to welcome our little Leonardo,” the couple said in a statement to PEOPLE. “He’s a wonderful gift and we are all in love — especially the grandmas!”

Sasha previously opened up to PEOPLE about the dynamic between Leonardo and his sister Lucia.

“It’s really fun to watch the kids interact and fight and just provoke each other,” theRizzoli & Islesstar said. “There’s a whole dynamic there that I’m sort of glad I didn’t have — but it’s really fun to watch as a parent!”

While Leonardo stays out of the public eye, his mother has shared a few snapshots of him over the years. For Father’s Day in 2020, Sashaposted a photoof Leonardo and Lucia posing with their dad. “We are so lucky to have our Edoardo who wakes up with the glass half full every day,” she wrote.

On March 15, 2012, Carlo Jr. and Andrea welcomed their second child, a daughter named Beatrice Lara Ponti.

While her parents are private about her upbringing, she has attended numerous events with her famous grandmother over the years. Beatrice stole the show at only 4 years old when she asked Loren ifshe could carry her bagat a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show as they walked to their seats, and her grandmother happily obliged.

She also supported her grandmother during the inauguration of theSophia Loren Restaurantin Milan in 2022, where the pair were seen sitting in a booth sharing a sweet moment.
