Although the couple haven’t shared why they chose the name Augustus, Goggins has provided some insight into the special meaning behind his son’s middle name.
In a February 2025 video forGQ’s 10 Essentials, the actor cited books as one of his top 10 must-haves before sharing a few of his favorites, including the inspiration behind his son’s moniker.
“There is no other author that is more important to me than this guy right here, W. Somerset Maugham,” he said. “The name of this book isThe Moon and Sixpence. It is the one book that I will give any artist as a gift.”
Goggins added, “I love this book and this author so much that my wife and I named our son Augustus Somerset Goggins after Somerset Maugham.”

In November 2019, they renewed their vows. Unsurprisingly, their son served as best man once again. The next day, Conners announced the news onInstagramalong with several candid snapshots of the ceremony.
“Walton and I renewed our vows but truthfully it felt like we were marrying for the first time. Years ago we had a small ceremony in our garden with Kate and Johnny and a tiny Augustus,” Conners wrote, referring to actressKate Bosworthand actorJohnny Galecki.
She continued, “Last night at our birthday party we surprised our guests with a wedding of sorts - Kate and Johnny and Augustus reprised their roles but this time it was in a circle of friends. It was the dream wedding.”

Goggins has a lot in common with his son. One thing that sets Augustus apart, though, is his calm and profound demeanor, the actor said on theArmchair Expertpodcast.
“He is so calm and so wise and so, so measured and extremely passionate, and a deep, deep, deep thinker,” he said.
Goggins similarly praised Augustus in a sweet June 2020Instagrampost in honor of Father’s Day.
“This one’s mine. I’d say like father like son but truth be told, in my case, I prefer like son like father,” he wrote. “He is kind and earnest, thoughtful and funny As s—. He is insatiably curious, empathetic and has taught me more about being a man than anything that has happened in my life."

The White Lotusstar, who grew up in a suburb of Atlanta, has been candid about his difficult upbringing. While he always aspired to have financial success, one of the best things about reaching it now is the ability to give his son a different kind of life.
“I’m a poor kid from Georgia. How great is it to have our child grow up around art and music and great furniture and all these things that are so life-affirming and expansive,” he said in a February 2025 interview withArchitectural Digest.
