“It is a very painful day for all of Sweden,” Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said in a post on X. “My thoughts are also with all those whose normal school day was replaced with terror. Being confined to a classroom with fear for your own life is a nightmare that no one should have to experience.”
CNN reportsthat during a press conference, Kristersson said, “We’ve today seen brutal, deadly violence against completely innocent people – this is the worst mass shooting in Swedish history.”
The AP reported that police do not believe the shooting was terror-related, but authorities have not discussed a possible motive.
