Billie Lourdand Austen Rydell knew each other for years before their relationship blossomed into a marriage.

Rydell has been a major support for theAmerican Horror Storyactress, whose mom, Carrie Fisher,died in 2016 at the age of 60after a heart attack. He even incorporated Fisher into their engagement, proposing with a diamond ring that was reset from a sparkler Lourd’s talent agent dad originally used to propose to Fisher.

Their love has felt like a fairytale to the happy couple. “It is the greatest feeling,” saidLourd in an interview withVogue. “It’s what people talk about in storybooks. It’s incredible.”

From just friends to a family of three, here are all the important milestones from Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell’s relationship timeline.

2016: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell go on their first date

After being friends for years, Lourd and Rydell dated in 2016. However, their romance was short-lived asLourd began dating herScream Queenscostar,Taylor Lautner, later that year.

In July 2017, PEOPLE confirmed thatLourd and Lautner had split. “They aren’t together anymore but they are still friendly,” a source said at the time. “She’s really focused on her work right now.”

October 2017: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell reconnect

A few months after her split from Lautner, Lourd reconnected with Rydell. In October 2017, they were spotted kissing outside a hotel in Palm Springs, fueling rumors that they had rekindled their romance.

December 27, 2017: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell visit Norway on the anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s death

April 8, 2018: Billie Lourd celebrates Austen Rydell’s birthday in Japan

She also shared a cute snapshot ofher with her arms around Rydellas he dipped her back beneath a tree of cherry blossoms.

July 16, 2018: Austen Rydell takes Billie Lourd on a surprise birthday trip

Rydell latershared a sweet tribute to Lourdon Instagram, writing, “Happy Birthday to the best partner and best friend I could ever imagine. I’ve had the best times of my life with you and feel like we’ve just started. Can’t wait till your birthday next year! 💕you.”

November 4, 2018: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell make their red carpet debut

Lourd and Rydell made a low-key red carpet debut as a couple as they attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala together in November 2018. They previously made their first public appearance as a couple at a Christian Dior fashion show in May 2018.

June 26, 2020: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell announce their engagement

In June 2020, Rydell announced the exciting news thathe proposed to Lourd.

September 22, 2020: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell welcome their first child

On Valentine’s Day 2021, she gave a sweet shoutout to her favorite boys asshe posted a picture of her and Rydell kissing Kingston.

“Love is a boring word for how I feel about these two humans. I EVERYTHING THEM TO THE END OF THE UNIVERSE AND BACK X INFINITY!!! And as the kids say #PARENTS #MOMANDDAD,” she captioned the post.

June 25, 2021: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell honor Carrie Fisher at Disneyland’s newStar Warsattraction

Lourd and Rydell headed to Disneyland with friends to experience the newStar Warsattraction, which she called the “best ride ever” in shared footage.

To further honor her late mother, Lourd wore Princess Leia Mickey Mouse ears on the ride.

It wasn’t the first time Lourd brought aspects of Fisher’s work into her present-day family. Previously, on May 4, sheposted a photoof her son wearing a Princess Leia knit beanie and watching one of Fisher’sStar Warsscenes on a laptop.

July 20, 2021: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell list $2.8 million mansion

After three years of living just off Melrose Boulevard in Los Angeles, Lourd and Rydell listed their home.

The home was designed in a Cape Cod style and had five bedrooms, six bathrooms and three fireplaces over 3,566 square feet. The backyard featured a built-in firepit and small swimming pool.

September 22, 2021: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell celebrate son’s first birthday

Sharing never-before-seen family photos, Lourd wished Rydell a happy “parental anniversary” on social media to commemorate their son’s first birthday.

She added in a hashtag, “Petition to make parental anniversary a thing.”

She also posted a photo of herself in the hospital before giving birth.

February 21, 2022: Billie Lourd celebrates her bachelorette party before her wedding to Austen Rydell

Almost two years after their engagement,Lourd celebrated her bachelorette partyin February 2022. The actress posteda series of photos on Instagram, including shots of her wearing a white leisure set with feather trim along with red heart-shaped sunglasses and white Minnie Mouse-themed bridal headwear.

March 12, 2022: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell get married

One month after her bachelorette party,Lourd and Rydell tied the knotin Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on March 12, 2022. Lourd latershared photos from her nuptials, including shots of her Rodarte gown,which paid tribute to her late mom.

“We wrote our own vows and sobbed the entire time,“Lourd toldVogueabout her wedding. “Word to the wise — always wear waterproof everything!”

“And in true Carrie fashion, we threw glitter in the air at the end of the ceremony. It was magical. I could not have dreamed up a more perfect wedding.”

“It was the most genius officiating in the history of officiating,” says Lourd. “It was so funny and touching and we sobbed and we laughed, and that was my favorite part of it.”

“But also the dance party went into the wee hours of the night,” said theBooksmartstar. “We drank Mujen. We danced too much.”

April 3, 2022: Billie Lourd praises Austen Rydell on his 30th birthday

Lourd gave Rydell a shout out on social media to commemorate his 30th birthday. “Happy triple decade to my HUSBAND (whoaaa still feels super cool to say that out loud ok fine type it out loud is typing out loud a thing?),” she wrote.

She posted a picture of their wedding and wrote, “you make me the giddiest gal in the universe.”

April 5, 2022: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell share pictures from honeymoon

After tying the knot in Cabo San Lucas, the two embarked on their honeymoon. Lourd shared cozy sunset photos on Instagram of the couple hugging and kissing, with rolling hills and rippling water as the backdrop.

On May 12, the newlyweds attended the launch of theLouis VuittonCruise 2023 collection at the San Diego Salk Institute for Biological Studies. For the event, they sported matching wedding bands as they watched the show together.

October 17, 2022: Billie Lourd says second pregnancy is a “different vibe”

Lourd spoke to PEOPLE about the differences between her first and second pregnancies at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movieTicket to Paradise.

“I went nowhere,” she said of her first pregnancy, which took place during the pandemic. “I knitted a blanket, and I watchedTheSopranos, and I watchedThe Wireand I didn’t leave my couch. It was a very different vibe.”

This time, Lourd is both managing a toddler and working. She jokingly called herself “a psycho person” while reflecting on her busy schedule. “I didAmerican Horror Story, and then I just wrapped this other movie that I shot in London,” she said.

TheBooksmartactress shared that she’s excited for her second child to get to look back on these projects and see their mom acting while pregnant.

While Lourd didn’t see her own mother act while pregnant, she revealed it “would’ve been incredible” to get to see Fisher star in a movie while Lourd was in her belly.

“That’s why I also wanted to do it. Because it will be cool for this kid to be able to Google it and see themself,” she explained.

Lourd’s father Bryan Lourd announced that his daughter and Rydellwelcomed their second childwhile speaking atVariety’s Dealmakers Breakfaston Dec. 13, 2022.

“Everything’s great,” he added.

February 6, 2023: Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell enjoy a “parents night out”

Lourd and Rydell had a pseudo date night, considering their newest bundle of joy was asleep in a stroller next to the dinner table. Regardless, theAmerican Horror Storystar was ecstatic to feel “semi-human for a sec.”

Lourd’s late mother,Carrie Fisher, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the official unveiling of the star, theAmerican Horror Storyactress, whowore aStar Wars-themed dress, gave a touching speech.

“Mama, you’ve made it,” Lourd said from the podium. “Leia is more than just a character. She’s a feeling. She is strength, she is grace, she is wit. She is femininity at its finest. She knows what she wants and she gets it. … No one could have played her like my mother.”

July 17, 2023: Austen Rydell celebrates Billie Lourd’s 31st birthday

In honor of his wife’s birthday, Rydell gave Lourd a sweet shout-out onInstagram.

April 3, 2024: Billie Lourd celebrates Austen Rydell’s 32nd birthday

Lourd’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving before Rydell walked into her life.

“I love cornbread stuffing sooooo much but now my fave holiday is hands down AUSTEN RYDELLS BDAY YALL,” she wrote on Instagram in honor of her husband’s 32nd birthday. “I love him infinitelymore than cornbread stuffing and if you know me that’s saying something!!!!”

To celebrate three years of marriage, both Lourd and Rydell shared different throwbacks to their wedding day on social media.
