On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Reynolds, 48, and his wife Lively, 37, attended a special screening ofWicked: Part OneatMetrographin New York City, where they posed for photos with the movie’s lead actorsAriana GrandeandCynthia Erivo.

The meeting represented significant success at the box office between the group of four. Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverineis the second highest-grossing film of 2024 in North America, whileWickedhas alreadyreached the No. 6 spotfewer than two weeks after its Nov. 22 release. Meanwhile,It Ends with Us, the Colleen Hoover romance novel adaptation that Lively starred in and produced is also on the list of this year’s film release successes, checking in at No. 13 in2024 domestic box office rankingsas of Wednesday, Dec. 4.

When he appeared onVariety’sAwards Circuitpodcast on Nov. 7, Reynolds himself said that he is spending the upcoming year writing a new movie for himself and hisDeadpool & WolverinecostarHugh Jackmanto make with their directorShawn Levy"that is not Marvel, and that’s kind of it." The actor was responding to a question regarding whether he was in conversations to host the 2025Academy Awards, at whichWicked: Part Oneappears to be primed for awards consideration. (The Oscars announced on Nov. 15 thatConan O’Brienwill host this year’s show.)

“I have four kids, and I actually — spoiler alert — love my kids,” Reynolds toldVarietythen of dedicating time to his family after the lengthy process it took to putDeadpool & Wolverineinto the world. “And I love seeing them and I love them seeing me, so this year is kind of devoted, the next 12 months are just going to be with my kids.”
