A 15-year-old boy in Ohio has been charged after he allegedly murdered the man accused of punching his mom in the face several times.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, Cincinnati Police Department officers responded at around 12:30 a.m. local time to reports of a person being shot on Pasadena Avenue, according to anews release.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, who they later identified as Levonte Hyde, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was then transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, per the police.
Later that same day, authorities, including the Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit, arrested and charged the teen for murder, tied to the killing.

Police spokesman Lt. Jonathan Cunningham and a spokesperson for the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Cleveland 19 that the teen is one of the sons of the woman who accused Hyde of domestic violence.
The outlet reported that court records state that the teen’s mother and Hyde have two children. The prosecutor’s spokesman further clarified to Cleveland 19 that the teen involved in the alleged shooting is not the son of Hyde, who was also reportedly charged with assault in July 2017.
Cleveland 19 reported that the teen appeared in Hamilton County Juvenile Court on Friday, Feb. 21, when it was alleged that the boy fired 12 rounds at Hyde. It has been ruled that the suspect must stay in the detention center or in shelter care until his next hearing on March 3.
Tatyana Reintjes, an assistant prosecutor, said in court that the teen “had time to find a firearm, open a safe, retrieve that firearm and waited, for the victim to arrive, and ultimately ended up firing 12 shots when the victim did succumb to his injuries,” perWLWT.
The outlet added that the incident between Hyde and the teen’s mother occurred roughly 30 minutes before the shooting.
PEOPLE reached out to the Cincinnati Police Department for additional information but did not immediately hear back on Sunday, Feb. 23.
