The costumes inThe Last Showgirlare veritable art pieces.

Just ask the women who wore them.

In anEntertainment Tonightinterview posted toInstagramon Jan. 10, Kiernan Shipka, who plays Jodie in the movie, said she found joy in wearing the vintage costumes.

“They were all archival pieces,” she said of the wardrobe in the film. “They had such a story, they had such a history. It was really fun to go back to wearing stuff that had been honored in a previous life.”

“Who doesn’t want to be a showgirl, first of all? And who doesn’t want to wear Bob Mackie?” Brenda Song said toEntertainment Tonightof starring in the film as Mary-Anne and wearing the dazzling costumes.

She went on to reveal, though, that the wardrobe (and its value) had everyone on tenterhooks if even one feather was out of place.

“Every time we were wearing those headpieces, any feather that flew, people were, like, sweeping them up and putting them in bags ‘cause they were like millions of dollars worth of feathers and gems,” Song said. “Like, if one fell off, people were diving for them.”

“Not just the headpieces, but the actual outfit,” Song said while Shipka nodded along.

The costumes in the movie were originally used in the Las Vegas showJubilee. Anderson said in an interview withHarper’s Bazaarpublished Jan. 9 that she “loved” all the showgirl costumes, too. Director Gia Coppola’s mother, Jacqui Getty, was the costume designer on the project, with Jose Rodrigo and Jesse Phillips working closely with the showgirl costumes themselves.

“All the Bob Mackie stuff was such a dream to wear,” Shipka added in the same interview. She then reminisced about a lavender dress she didn’t get to wear before Anderson reminded her thatshegot to wear that dress.

“It was so many fun costumes to wear,” Anderson said.
