In fact, when the two siblings were attending a dinner at their parents' house last month, Emma, 27, went so far as to accuse Alex, who was also at the family gathering, of “mooching off” his fiancée because she earns more than him.

“For the record,” the bride noted in her post, “Alex works full-time, contributes equally to our household, and is financially independent.”

“But,” she continued, “Emma insisted that ‘a man should be the provider’ and said I’d regret marrying him.”

Alex, meanwhile, was “visibly upset” and didn’t say anything in response. The soon-to-be-married couple ended up leaving the family dinner early.

“I later texted Emma, telling her she owed Alex an apology. She refused, saying she was just being honest,” the bride recalled.

After she spent some time talking to Alex and thinking things over, the bride made the decision not to invite her sister to her May wedding.

“She found out through our mom and called me, furious. She said I was being overly sensitive and punishing her for sharing her opinion,” the bride wrote. “She’s now got other family members involved, who are saying I’m tearing the family apart over a ‘petty disagreement.’ "

Now, the bride feels “stuck” and is questioning whether she is making the right decision.

" ‘Just keeping it real’ should have social consequences. She can’t insult someone and then turn around and expect to be invited to an event celebrating that person,” one person wrote.

Someone else chimed in: “People go to weddings to support the couple. Does she support the couple? No. So why would she go?”

Several others questioned why Emma is mad about being disinvited when she clearly does not support her sister and Alex’s relationship. “Ask Emma why she even cares about attending the wedding. After all, she’sthe one saying your fiancé only wants you for money. Why would she want to celebrate that?” a commenter wrote.
