Bride Has Friends Wear Bridesmaid Dresses She Wore to Their Weddings in27 Dresses-Inspired Moment

A bride celebrated her upcoming nuptials with a fun nod to a popular rom-com.

Savannah Smith — who has been a bridesmaid in nearly a dozen of her friends' weddings — decided to take a trip down memory lane for her own bridal shower and bring back those old dresses one last time.

In a clip shared withGood Morning America, Smith can be heard telling her guests at her shower that she had been “compared” toKatherine Heigl’s character in the 2008 movie27 Dresses, which follows Jane, a single woman looking for love, as she spends her weekends serving as a bridesmaid in numerous friends' weddings.

“I actually have all of the bridesmaid dresses I have worn,” Smith, who wore a white strapless gown for the occasion, said in the video as her guests laughed.

She added, “If I was a bridesmaid at your wedding, I have your dress [and] I would love for you to try to put it on and let’s take a picture.”

In the clip, the women then got changed and could be seen sporting the gowns that Smith wore to their weddings. These included a pink V-neck gown, an off-the-shoulder light blue look, a silver satin A-line dress and a dark green spaghetti-strap style.

Even though it’s been more than a decade since the movie was released, it remains a favorite of fans — and also the actors who starred in it. Heigl, 46, celebrated the movie’s 10th anniversary in 2018 with a tribute post onInstagram, featuring still photos of herself in some of her character’s more memorable bridesmaid dresses.

“Good lord a hell of a lot can happen in 10 years! Happy 10 years 27 dresses!” she wrote in the caption. “I had the time of my life being a part of your good old fashioned romantic frivolity and am so grateful to have had the experience, made the friends and kept the memories!#27dresses.”

The actress similarly began dancing when the 1973 song came on during the 2024 Emmy Awards ceremony, which she attended to pay tribute toGrey’s Anatomy. While she wasn’t wearing a bridesmaid dress for the occasion, she did look glamorous in abright red strapless Reem Acra gown.

DJ Benjamin Walker, who captured the moment, wrote onInstagram, “I love a good rom-com so when I saw@katherineheigl, I knew IMMEDIATELY there was one song to end the night and one song only….#IYKYK#27dresses.”
