Brittany Mahomeswants people to know she doesn’t need their opinions about her life.
Mahomes sat down for a recent episode of theWHOOPpodcast, where the 28-year-old revealed the piece of advice that her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterbackPatrick Mahomes, shared with her about life in the public eye.
“I think the main thing that he always told me is stop caring about what people think, especially the people that don’t even know you,” Mahomes said on the show, admitting that “social media used to get to me a lot.”
Since taking her husband’s advice, the Kansas City Current owner — whosparked backlash on social mediathis month for reportedly liking an Instagram post from Donald Trump — said that “now, it’s just like, honestly, I don’t give a f— what people have to say about me anymore.”
“And I think he’s helped me get to that point to where I’m strong in who I am. I’m confident in who I am, I’m confident in mine and his relationship, and I’m confident in our life,” she continued.
Mahomes credited some of her and Patrick’s success as a couple to being “thrown into the fire together” once he rose to fame after they started dating in high school, and that the Chiefs star grew up with a father in professional sports.
“I think that’s what’s helped us do so well in life…is that we did it all together,” Brittany said on the show.

“He is a lot better at it than I am, maybe because his dad played professional sports, so I think he was around it and he understood it a lot more than I did,” Mahomes said of her husband’s father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., who played professional baseball.
