It’s the start of a new era on theTodayshow.

AfterHoda Kotbexited the NBC morning show on Friday, Jan. 10,Craig Melvintook over her co-anchor spot on Monday, Jan. 13. His co-anchorSavannah Guthrieoffered her support as did weathermanAl Roker. But it wasCarson Dalywho couldn’t help but joke about the new head anchor.

“You know what theTodayshow is good at?” Daly, 51, asked during the Monday broadcast. “It’s getting rid of pictures. No sign of Hoda anywhere in the back. All the hallways now Craig is everywhere.”

Roker quipped of the Melvin takeover, “It’s like the reverse of the Elf on the Shelf.”

But Melvin was wary of being known as the one to erase Kotb, asking Roker, “Should we do a check of the weather before we get in trouble?”

“I think we should,” Roker agreed, laughing. “That was the shortest tenure ever.”

Melvin was excited to kick off his first official day as co-anchor on Monday, telling Guthrie at the top of the show, “Let’s go. And there’s no one I would rather ride with than you.”
