Channing Tatum Says Filming with Fiancée Zoë Kravitz Is 'Like Creating a Marriage’ (Exclusive)

While speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at themovie’s Los Angeles premiereat the DGA Theater on Thursday, Aug. 8, Tatum, 44, insisted starring inhis fiancée’s directorial debut was a great experience.

“To get to create something with someone that you love is probably one of the most gratifying things other than having a kid with somebody I think,” Tatum said of what the “best part” about shooting a movie with his other half was.

“It’s one of those … you truly are creating something from nothing and it’s just like creating a marriage or creating something where you’re like, everything that we are is going into this thing and you want to make it with people that you love,” he added.

Kravitz, 35, also had nothing but praise for Tatum. “I think going through something creative like this with anybody makes you closer and there’s so much trust there,” she told PEOPLE of how filming the movie made their partnership stronger.

“Yeah, we got to work together and go through hard things together and support each other, and it was beautiful,” theBig Little Liesstar continued.

Kravitz echoed her thoughts as part of her opening remarks before the movie’s screening.

She said about Tatum in her speech, “You supported me in every way. From producing to performing to the pep talks to holding my head or my feet while I cried on the bathroom floor because I thought I f—– it all up. Thank you for letting me be a complete OCD, psycho, control freak. Thank you for your patience.”

“Making this film with you has been an awfully great adventure. Thank you for trusting me to female direct you. It’s really very cool to get to make a movie but when you get to do it with the love of your life, its even cooler,” she continued of theMagic Mikestar.

On Thursday, Kravitz and Tatum, whoseengagement was confirmedin October 2023 after they were first romantically linked in 2021, stepped out fora red carpet date nightat the premiere, coordinating in sophisticated all-black ensembles.

Blink Twice, which also starsNaomi Ackie,Adria Arjona,Haley Joel Osment,Alia Shawkatand more, was formerly calledPussy Island, but Kravitz changed the name ahead of the release.

The thriller stars Ackie, 31, as a cocktail waitress named Frida who “becomes infatuated” with Tatum’s Slater King, per a synopsis. Frida “travels with him to his private island, where things begin to go wrong."

Blink Twicewill be in theaters Aug. 23.
