Gellar and Prinze, meanwhile, met on the original movie’sset; while Prinze’s Ray survived the slasher, Gellar’s Helen Shivers was murdered. And as she told PEOPLE in October 2024of her character, “I am dead.”
The following month, though, Gellarfueled speculationthat she might be in the upcoming reboot after all, posting a photoof a director’s chair that read “I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER"on the back. But as she shared the photo to Instagram Stories, Gellar wrote, “Visiting my man@realfreddieprinzeand my girl@jennkaytin.”
Regardless of whether Helen appears in the film in some form, Gellar admitted to PEOPLE in October that she’d play a small part, with her husband set toreprise his role— even if it’s justbehind the scenesand “unofficial.”
“My best friend [Robinson] is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I am continuity,” she explained. “So I’m always the one telling her, ‘Well, that would happen, or that wouldn’t happen with those characters,’ so I do have kind of an unofficial job title.”
