Coco Austin and Daughter Chanel, 9, Enjoy Mother-Daughter Date at Cirque du Soleil While Ice-T Is Stuck on Set (Exclusive)

Coco Austinenjoyed a very special night out with her little girl.

The actress, model and mom, 45, stepped out withher daughter Chanel, 9, whom she shares with husbandIce-T, 67, as the pair attended Cirque Du Soleil’s Luzia New York City premiere on Thursday, March 6.

While speaking with PEOPLE at the event, Austin says that while going to the circus is typically an outing the family of three would do together, the “Power” rapper was stuck filming on set.

“She really wanted to come and see a circus. Ice and I, we like to go to Vegas just to go to Cirque du Soleil and eat dinner. So, that’s our thing,” she tells PEOPLE. “Ice is actually still trying to come tonight. He’s stuck on the set right now. So, we’re hoping that he can still make it because this is his thing too.”

The stay-at-home mom has previously faced scrutiny from the public about her decisions as a parent. On a 2023 episode of theTamron Hall Show, Austin opened up to hostTamron Hall, 54, about the criticism she’s faced over the years from other parents, sharing that she feels she’s “underneath a microscope all the time.”

After Hall played a video from Ice-T praising her for being the “best mother” to their daughter, she began to tear up as she said she doesn’t “hear that much” from the public and instead “hears a lot of the bad.”

“I’m underneath a microscope all the time and you don’t hear what good you do,” she told Hall. “You don’t hear the goodness, you just hear a lot of bad. And I know I’m a good mother.”

“I’ve dedicated the last six years, putting everything aside, my career, everything, just for her,” she said, continuing to get emotional. “And you just want a little love, you want a little respect from people.”

“If you’re fortunate enough to be able to stay home with your kids, it’s the most incredible and most admirable thing you can do, is raise a child,” he said. “So don’t let no woman make you feel any kind of way. Do that job. So she picks Chanel up, goes to school, brings her back, takes her to Kung Fu, takes her to all that stuff.”

“Coco’s super mom,” he continued. “She didn’t ever think she was going to be a super mom — it just happened.”
