An amorous couple’s quality time together took a strange turn after their car rolled into a river in Philadelphia.
“The Philadelphia Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Kelly Drive around 4:15 am. Police spoke to the vehicle owner of a 2020 Land Rover and he stated while parked in the parking lot, the gear shifter was accidentally hit and the vehicle started to roll into the Schuylkill River,” the statement read in part.
A police representative toldNBC10 Philadelphiathey believed the pair were “getting busy” when the vehicle was accidentally shifted into gear and entered the water.FOX 29 Philadelphiaalso reported the couple were “engaged in sexual activity,” citing local police.

A spokesperson from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Public Affairs Office also toldCBS News Philadelphiathat the pair were “enjoying each other’s company” at the time of the incident.
The police dept. told PEOPLE the male and female inside the car were able to safely get out of the vehicle while it was in the water and swim to land. No one was injured in the incident, they added.

According to CBS News Philadelphia, dive crews began pulling the car out of the river around 8:30 a.m. The vehicle was later towed, the authorities told PEOPLE.
This is the second car to end up in the Schuylkill River over the last two weeks, per CBS News Philadelphia and FOX 29 Philadelphia. Per the outlets, police said the vehicle was pulled from the river but they found no one inside or any passengers in the area.
