After the death of actressMichelle Trachtenbergat age 39, the New York Police Department has released a statement saying that “criminality is not suspected.”
According to an NYPD statement, police responded to a 911 call on Wednesday morning about an unresponsive woman at 1 Columbus Place in Midtown Manhattan. When officers arrived at around 8:01 a.m., they found a 39-year-old woman, identified as Trachtenberg, unconscious. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The statement says: “Criminality is not suspected. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.”
Trachtenberg is best known for her roles as Georgina Sparks onGossip Girland Dawn Summers onBuffy the Vampire Slayer. She had her breakout in commercials before landing her roles on Nickelodeon’sThe Adventures of Pete & Peteand onAll My Children.

Trachtenberg’s last credited role was in 2023, when she reprised Georgina Sparks' character on Max’s revamped edition ofGossip Girl.

In the year before her death, Trachtenbergwas the subject of concerns online from fanswho were worried about her health because of a drastic change in her appearance. But she responded, saying, “Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition no problems. Why do you have to hate? Get a calendar.”
Trachtenberg’slast Instagram postwas a week ago. She shared a throwback of herself trying to “look like naughty#tinkerbell.”
