Denise Richards Says It Was a 'Big Decision' to Do Family's New Reality Show but Her Daughters Have Been Very 'Involved'

Denise Richardsis opening up about her daughters' involvement in her upcoming docuseries.

The actress, 53, joinedTori Spellingon the Aug. 5 episode of her podcastmisSPELLINGand spoke about her upcoming reality series,Denise Richards and the Wild Things. The formerReal Housewives of Beverly Hillsstar explained that signing on for the newE!series was a “big decision.”

“So this was a long time, with all of us talking about it because I wanted to make sure that the girls were really wanting to do it,” Richards said of her two eldest daughters' involvement in the new series. Richards sharesSami, 20, andLola, 19, with ex-husbandCharlie Sheen. She adopted her third daughter,Eloise, 13, in 2011 after she and Sheen divorced.

She went on to note how the show puts the family in the position to “open up [their] lives.”

“We’re doing it right now and trying to, navigate all of that,” she explained, before noting how the girls are “excited about it.”

“We had several meetings and talking, and, so we’re doing that now,” said theDrop Dead Gorgeousstar. “I was very proud of the girls that they were asking so many questions that they really wanted to be involved in now.”

The mother of three told Spelling that if she were her daughters’ ages, she “wouldn’t have asked what they asked." She added that she’s “really proud of them for that.”

Richards shared that she’s “excited” that the family is doing the show together and thinks “it’s fun and a great opportunity” for them.

In the 30-minute episodes, cameras will capture the ups and downs of Richards' life with her husbandAaron Phypersand her kids.

“My family and I are thrilled to return home toE!“Richards, who is also executive producing the series, said in the June announcement. “Sami and Lola were just 3 and 4 years old when we first shared our story and now we’ve come full circle. [Executive producer] Alex Baskin and I met when I joinedThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hillsand I loved doing that show.”
