24 years afterDennis QuaidandMeg Ryan’s marriage ended, Quaid says he has no regrets about the direction their relationship took.

Quaid, 70, appeared on the Friday, Sept. 6 episode ofWho’s Talking to Chris Wallace?on Max, where he spoke with journalistChris Wallaceabout his newRonald ReaganbiopicReagan. At one point in the pair’s conversation, Wallace, 76, asked the actor to what degree the former couple’s combined fame — Quaid and Ryan, 62, were married from from 1991 until their 2000 split — put strain on their relationship.

“How about that? When I met Meg I was here as far as career thing and she was here and then it just went like that,” Quaid said, indicating with his hands that Ryan’s level of fame shot beyond his during their time together.

“I tried to be a big person and tell myself that didn’t bother me, but people are human,” he added. “She was ascending as I went into rehab and Meg is really such a great, sweet person and really talented and deserved all her success. But I don’t regret anything about my marriage to Meg, and we gotJack Quaidout of it who is really going on to maybe eclipse both of us.”

“When we met I was the big deal,” Quaid said of his marriage to Ryan back in 2018 during an appearance onMegyn Kelly TODAY. “We’d go out on the streets of New York and it would be like, ‘Meg! Meg!’ And I have to admit it, I actually did feel like I disappeared. I didn’t think I was that small, but I was. It was a growth opportunity — I learned from that.”

At the time, Quaid did still say his marriage to Ryan was “the most successful relationship of my life.”
