Andy Kingis engaged!
The event planner — whorose to viral famein 2019 after appearing inFyre,Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary— got engaged on Dec. 4 to his partner of six years, Craig McBlain, at their farm in Hudson Valley, New York, overlooking The Berkshires and Catskill Mountains.
“We just returned from our annual holiday dinner and theater show in the city. We took Cooper, our rescue lab, for his evening hike to the top of the property at our farm. We enjoyed an amazing sunset and Craig pulled out a small bottle of champagne,” King, 63, recalls to PEOPLE. “At that moment we knew it was the right time and we decided we wanted to get married.”

Afterward, at their home celebration, the two came up with the idea to tie the knot in 2025 at Killochan Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland, where McBlain is from.
“We returned to the house to cook a romantic dinner and Craig surprised me with a holiday movie entitledA Merry Scottish Christmas. After watching the movie and seeing how magical it was, we thought what an amazing day it would be to get married in a castle,” continues King, who recently finished in the final four on USA Network’s hit competition showThe Anonymous, which is now streaming on Peacock.
He adds: “Craig has been measured for his family tartan kilt and I will be wearing matching tartan Trews. We are planning to have plenty of family and friends from both sides of the pond to celebrate our special day.”

King previously made headlines for his water-for-sex offer inFYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. In Netflix’s documentary about the failed 2017 Fyre Festival, King revealed that the festival’s disgraced founder,Billy McFarland, asked him tooffer oral sex to a customs officerto gain access to bottled water for festival-goers — and he said he was “fully prepared” to do so.
Six months later in July 2020, Kinghard launched his relationshipwith McBlain onInstagram, sharing a sweet snap together barefoot on the beach. “It only took 58 years to find true love ❤️,” he captioned the post.

But King tells PEOPLE they actually first crossed paths “randomly” at The Waterfront Venice in California.
“Craig was ordering a beer at the bar and I asked him where his accent was from. We chatted for five minutes then went our separate ways,” King says. “A few months later, Craig turned on Netflix and on came theFyredocumentary.”

He continues: “The following week I received a message on LinkedIn stating that he wasn’t out, his family and friends didn’t know he was gay but that he was returning to California the following month and wanted to treat me to lunch.”
“We met again on Venice Beach but this time it was a little bit different with lots of cameras and fans,” King says. “We managed to find a cute little out-of-the-way spot for lunch, walked the beach…and the rest is history. Craig jumped on a plane the following day to New York and we have been nonstop ever since.”
