George Lopezisn’t denying that his career might be winding down, but right now, all he’s focused on is how happy he is to be working with his daughter.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, George, 63, and his daughterMayan Lopez, 28, celebratedLopez vs. Lopezat NBC’s Comedies celebration with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly, and on the red carpet, George told PEOPLE that the sitcom could be his last project — but the only emotions he’s feeling are positive ones.

“It makes it happy. I mean, I would like for it to go a few more seasons, but yeah, after this, I’d like to have a little time for myself,” George said of what’s next in his career.

Of working with his daughter, who he shares with his ex-wife Ann Serrano, George said, “She’s doing great.”

“In the beginning, I could tell when she was a little bit maybe frustrated a little bit and I would talk to her a little bit, but she works really hard when she’s not on the set,” he said of his daughter’s work ethic. “That’s my big thing — is to be on time. And she’s always prepared.”

Mayan echoed much of what her dad had to say about working together, as she told PEOPLE, “It’s like working with your parent, but I have so much fun with him always.”

She also teased what’s to come in season 3 of the sitcom, which premiered in 2022.

“Well, spoiler alert, but my character is engaged, so there is a wedding happening and I think with all weddings and families, dynamics change and it’s chaos. And the Lopez family is definitely going through that,” she said.

She also promised lots of “surprises” to come as season 3 sees some “amazing guest stars” like Anthony Anderson and Jeff Ross.

“In our first episode, we do a roast with Jeff Ross, which I had to joke and be like, ‘You have to stop me.’ I’ve been waiting a long time to roast my dad. So that was even very real.”

She continued, “You can see how much fun we’re having this season and so I can’t wait for everyone to laugh along with us.”
