Glenn Closehas had a prolific career — but younger generations know her best asCruella de Vil.
“It’s so funny, kids now know me as Cruella,” said the Oscar nominee.
“I one time did a laugh when I saw a little kid,” added Close, mimicking Cruella’s evil cackle for the hosts at the table. “And then the little girl started crying.”
She didn’t have to be afraid, though; the hosts quickly clarified that Close is an animal lover, and her pup Pip even joined them at the table.

AndThe Wifeactress had plenty of (less tearful) memories to reflect on during her talk show appearance. She recounted, for instance, how she had the opportunity to meet the family of Vice President-electJ.D. Vance— years before his foray into politics — when she played his grandmother in an adaption of his bestselling memoir,Hillbilly Elegy.
“We all met members of the family. We all sat with them individually,” said the actress. “The family was very generous with their time.”
WhenThe Viewhosts asked about how Vance has “changed” since he released his memoir in 2016, Close could only speculate. “I don’t know what happened,” she responded. “I think power — power is the most powerful aphrodisiac for a human being.”
Since taking her first role on the silver screen in the 1982 filmThe World According to Garp, Close has amassed dozens of accolades (including eight Oscar nominations) and cemented herself as one of the most celebrated actresses of her generation. But as she nears 80, she told theViewhosts, “I’m feeling as excited about work as I’ve ever felt.”
