Warning: this post contains spoilers from the March 6 episode ofGrey’s Anatomy.
The midseason premiere ofGrey’s Anatomypicked up right after Lucas Adams’ (Niko Terho) heroic actionspotentially cost his lifeduring an armed robbery.
When he arrived at the hospital, he turned down help — and an offer to call his mom — while attempting to get Damien and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington), who was still bleeding due to her pregnancy, the treatment they needed.

When Simone Griffin (Alexis Floyd) found Lucas, she passionately kissed him and said, “Thank god, you’re ok.” However, much to her dismay, she was then forced to treat Damien amid the chaos at the hospital as the heat dome in Seattle continued.
Lucas attempted to soldier on but experienced a panic attack and Ben Warren (Jason George) was forced to calm him down. After collecting himself, Lucas asked Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) if the robbery “brought back some memories” for her, referring to the death of her father, who was killed during a similar robbery.
“That day shaped my whole life,” she responded of her father’s death, which was revealed in the show’s fifth season. “Probably Derek’s too. You were his favorite. You know, he always saw something in you.”

Damien’s actions, which put both Lucas and Jo at risk, made it difficult for Simone to provide him care.
During his surgery, Simone was still upset about Damien’s gun use and said, “We should invite the lawmakers voting against background checks to assist on these surgeries.”

However, her attitude came back to haunt her when Damien fell off the table due to not being strapped in properly. Teddy pointed the finger at Simone for securing the patient, saying, “Your mistake was extremely dangerous and completely unacceptable. We give our patients the very best care that we are capable of giving, no matter who the patient is or what he has done, and if we can’t, then we leave before our personal distractions kill someone.”
Jules Millin (Adelaide Kane) — who was struggling with Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis) being gone — later took ownership of the mistake, but didn’t have the chance to apologize to Simone, who was seeking comfort from Lucas after a “long day.”
Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) stepped in to treat Jo and learned thatshe was expecting twinsduring an ultrasound. After she felt a sudden pain, they realized she would need a cervical cerclage to avoid pre-term labor.
Later, Link told Bailey that Jo has “shut me out” since finding out that they were expecting twins. Bailey then recalled her own experience going into labor — which was seen in the show’s second season — saying, “When I was in labor with my son, his father was getting emergent brain surgery. Now I initially didn’t know about it, because my OB never let it show on her face. She knew that I was at my most vulnerable, and she supported me with a strength that I will never forget.”

Bailey reminded him that Jo does that on “a daily basis” because it’s her job and then told him, “But, today it should be yours. She’s terrified, so pull yourself together so she can fall apart.”
Link then reassured Jo, saying, “Our whole world was in danger, and I freaked out. I just want to do whatever will keep you safe. Whatever keeps them safe…it’s been rough, but I just want to be here for you. Just tell me what you need.”
She later admitted she was adjusting to being in a partnership. Jo told Link, “I’ve been making decisions on my own my whole life, and being in a functional relationship and allowing someone else to weigh in on everything. I am still…,” to which he responded, “I know and I love you so much.”
Owen Hunt’s (Kevin McKidd) childhood friend Nora (Floriana Lima) admitted that she had a crush on him growing up, but he grew concerned when he realized she was still experiencing pain from the surgery.
While Owen attempted to treat her, Nora appeared more concerned about her resurfaced feelings for him. When he was helping her fix her hospital bed, she told Owen that she “sensed some tension” between him and Teddy, adding, “Sorry, you don’t have to answer that. I think my surgical complications removed my filter, or maybe it was my divorce.”

She then attempted to lean for a kiss before his pager interrupted them.
“I don’t think I should be on your care team anymore,” Owen later informed Nora and she responded, “I’m sorry. The freshman me resurfaced, or at least the part that had a crush on her friend’s older brother, I shouldn’t have tried to kiss you.”
He clarified, “It’s not only you.”
After their steamy kiss, Benson “Blue” Kwan’s (Harry Shum Jr.) overheard his ex-fiancée Molly (Dianne Doan) telling her boyfriend Dave that she still loved him but needed “some space.”
Blue begged to stay so they could figure out what was happening between them. He later declared his love for her.

“I’ve never stopped loving you, if that’s enough, say no to Dave, turn down his proposal,” he said. “I don’t want to get this wrong. If you and I start something without breaking it off with him, it’ll feel wrong. So go home and tell him, when you come back, I’m never losing you again.”
