Gwyneth Paltrow’s Travel Outfit Is Proof That These 2 Essentials Aren’t Just Stylish — They’re Functional, Too

As a celebrity shopping writer, I’ve accepted that I’ll nevernotbe questioning my own outfits after seeing what celebrities are wearing. Well, it’s just another one of those days. Today’s qualm? Mytravel outfits.

Earlier this week, I spottedGwyneth Paltrowwearing a striped shirt dress in a few Instagram selfies during her travels, and, to be honest, I was totally taken aback. Not because it wasn’t stylish, but mostly because I thought everybody dressed comfortably on airplanes. But then it hit me: Maybe shirt dresses are exactly that.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen stars in thelaid-back dress style— other fans include Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, andMeghan Markle— nor was it the first time Paltrow herself hasrepped the style. TL;DR: Why would so many stars choose to wear shirt dresses in their everyday lives if they weren’t comfortable?

Two other noteworthy elements of her outfit included her crossbody bag, whichOprah is a fan of, and a pair of high-top sneakers, which would offer more ankle support while walking in an airport or touring a city.

There’s a possibility that Paltrow changed on the plane as she neared her destination, but in theory, a shirt dress is actually really smart airplane attire: It’s not restrictive, the sleeves can be rolled up or down when the temperature is being finicky, and it’s long enough that your legs won’t touch the seat — a personal ick of mine.
