Hailee Steinfeld Is 'So Grateful' Fiancé Josh Allen Made Sure She 'Looked Good' for Their Proposal

Hailee Steinfeldwalked intoJosh Allen’s proposal without a clue she was about to get engaged. Thankfully though, she dressed up for the occasion.

In a new interview withWho What Wear,the “Love Myself” singer, 28, revealed that, even though she was completely surprised, her fiancé, 28, made sure she glammed up for the special moment, knowing she’d regret it if she didn’t.

“I’m so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we’ll have and cherish for the rest of our lives that I’m not looking at being like, ‘What was I wearing?'” said Steinfeld, who ended up wearing a boho-chic shirt dress and knee-high stiletto boots.

Since being linked together in May 2023, Steinfeld and Allen, a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, have taken measures to protect their relationship from the public eye.

Steinfeld and Allenannounced their engagementon Nov. 29, 2024 on Instagram, one week after he popped the question. They shared a joint post with a photo that showed Allen on one knee and Steinfeld bending down to kiss him. A floral arch and dozens of candles decorated the proposal scene, which overlooked the ocean.

At the time, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that their families are excited about the news. “They’ve been head over heels from the start,” the source said. “Their families are thrilled.”

Three months later, Steinfeld and Allenwalked their first red carpet as fiancésat the Feb. 6 NFL Honors, where he was presented the Most Valuable Player Award.

All eyes were on the couple’s coordinating all-back outfits, but even more so on Steinfeld’slarge diamond engagement ring.

The Oscar winner has kept mum about her sparkler, however Olivia Landau, a GIA-certified gemologist and founder ofThe Clear Cut, estimates the weight of the diamond to be about 3.5 to 4 carats.

The round brilliant diamond rests on a thin platinum solitaire setting, per Landau. “Her engagement ring is timeless and traditional. She opted for a classic ring vs following trends.”
