Upon its initial release in 2010,Heidi Montag Pratt’sSuperficialalbum underperformed commercially and received mainly negative critical reviews. Currently, it’s No. 1 on iTunes — for a heartwarming reason.
“Thank you for the overwhelming love and support of my music and really rallying behind us in this devastating time and making it such a blessing,” said Heidi in a recentTikTokvideo. “Thank you for helping support us, helping build us back up, helping to encourage us, give us that hope and faith and excitement in such a dark, dark time.”
Superficialwas created during Heidi and Spencer’s time onThe Hills, and they claimed to have spent nearly $2 million making the album independently with major pop songwriters and producers.
“Every detail was very important to me, because I take this very seriously. Most artists, it’s not their own money, but I’ve actually gone broke putting every dollar I’ve ever made and my heart and soul into this music,” she toldEntertainment Weeklyin 2010.
The album failed to chart at the time, but many fans have long held a soft spot forSuperficial, feeling the project was harshly judged due to Heidi and Spencer’s fame.
