How Jon Batiste Plans to Make Sure His 2025 Super Bowl National Anthem Performance Stands the 'Test of Time'

Jon Batistewants his2025 Super Bowlperformance to be unforgettable.

In an interview withEntertainment Tonighton Friday, Jan. 24, Batiste, 38, shared how he’s preparing to belt out America’s National Anthem at the big game.

“I’m excited to figure out an arrangement that lasts the test of time, and I look forward to sharing it,” he said.

The Grammy winner added that he’ll finalize his arrangement “the week before"Super Bowl LIX. “And then it’s going to fly,” he said.

“My name’s Kendrick Lamar and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX,” he announced in the clip. “Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos.”

“I won’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans. Feb. 9, 2025,” Lamar added. “Wear your best dress, too, even if you watch it from home.”

On Thursday, Jan. 23, atrailer for Apple Music’s Super Bowl LIX Halftime showrevealed SZA would be joining her frequent collaborator as she dumped a cooler full of blue liquid over Lamar’s head. After the announcement went live, she shared the video on herInstagramalongside the caption, “Taking the stage with@Kendricklamar!#AppleMusicHalftime #SBLIX.”

As for whether Batiste might join Lamar and SZA for a song during halftime, the “Good Life” singer is staying mum for now.

“You know, I always try to keep things close to the vest,” he told ET when asked if he had connected with the Pulitzer-winning rapper. The New Orleans native joked, “I’ve been asked that before, and I messed up.”

Additional performances at the big game will include Lauren Daigle with “America the Beautiful” and Ledisi with “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

Super Bowl LIX will air Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025 on FOX.
