On December 12, theDallas Buyers Clubactress was seen ringing in the holidays in an outfit I’m definitely bringing into 2025 (well, minus the Santa hat). On top, she zipped up a fleece-like vest over a long-sleeve shirt, which, together, looked toasty but not tight and restrictive like heat-trapping thermals.

For bottoms, she settled on a pair of straight-leg jeans, acelebrity-favored style, and then laced up in a pair of black sneakers to finish things off. It also looked like she was carrying a few boxes of goodies fromher brand Once Upon a Farmfor the ultimate accessories.

Her outfit wasn’t anything fancy, but that’s precisely why I was all for it: I’m definitely guilty of buying sparkly dresses and shiny skirts for glitzy holiday gatherings, but once January 1st rolls around, they’re put away until, truthfully, this time next year. But warm thermal layers, relaxed jeans, andcasual sneakers? Those I can definitely wear every day.

As soon as I saw that this Hanes T-shirt has over 25,000 five-star ratings, I was sold. Well, that and because of its cotton fabric and loose cut. It’s only $8 on sale, which, for me, is almost the same price as my daily Dunkin’ latte.

Outdoor Ventures Polar Fleece Zip Vest

The more layers you have, the warmer you’ll be. But vests? They’re so under-utilized, in my opinion. This one, for example, can slide under another jacket, no sweat, and it cozies up the chest area when the former isn’t doing a good enough job.

This one from Outdoor Ventures is fleece (though apuffer optionwould also be warm), and “It has a little bit of a tailored look and feel,”according to one five-star reviewer. It comes in sizes XS to XXL and will arrive before the holidays, should you choose to give one as a gift.

Skinny jeans were the norm when I was growing up, but now, I don’t think I could ever go back. Straight-leg pairs are easier to get into (I don’t want to sweat every time I put on a pair of pants) and way more pleasant to wear for long periods of time.

And while any inseam is going to vary depending on your height, I think you need to have a true cropped pair like these for this time of year — they don’t fall as awkwardly over boots. Garner’s even looked a little cropped, too.

Hash Bubbie Slip-On Sneaker

You probably already own a pair or two of sneakers, but do you have any black ones? If not, you should! With the right outfit, they pop more than white ones, and they also don’t need to be cleaned as often. And if you get slip-ons like these, the laces shouldn’t come untied, drag along the ground, or turn dirty.
