Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Finalize Divorce 20 Weeks After She Filed

The exes, whorekindled their romancein 2021,married in an intimate Las Vegas ceremonyin July 2022. They later celebrated their nuptials with aceremony in Georgiain front of friends and family on Aug. 20, 2022.

Lopezfiled for divorce exactly two years after the Georgia ceremony, listing April 26, as their date of separation and citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

She filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court without a lawyer, requesting no spousal support for either party, for attorney’s fees to be split, and noted that the “exact nature” of their community, quasi-community assets, and separate property and obligations are “unknown” and “will be determined.”

The star alsorequested that her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, be restored.

Aweek after she filed, Lopez seemed “relieved,“according to a source close to the star, who added at the time, though, “She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to just give up.”

At that same time, an additional source said Affleck appeared to be “doing well and is very focused” in the wake of the filing: “He thrives when he has work projects. He’s been great when it comes to the kids too. He’s doing exactly what he wants. He seems very happy.”

Rumors about a strain in their marriagebegan in May after the twowere not seen together for weeksfollowing a sighting in New York City on March 30.

While Lopez waspromoting her filmAtlasandattending the Met Gala solo, the two werelater seen out together in Los Angelesandreunited for Affleck’s daughter Violet’s graduation ceremony.

Lopez shares twinsMax and Emme, 16, with ex-husbandMarc Anthony. Affleck, who was previously married toJennifer Garner, shares three children with Garner: Violet, 18,Seraphina, 15, andSamuel, 12.

When the summer months hit, however, the former couple spent the months on two separate coasts.

Lopez embarked on a European getaway beforespending time in the Hamptonsandcelebrating events like the Fourth of Julyandher birthday without Affleck. Affleck spent most of his summerworking onThe Accountant 2in Los Angeles.

The actress recently returned from a trip to theToronto International Film Festival, where she made herfirst public appearance since her divorce filingat the premiere ofUnstoppableon Sept. 6. Affleck, who co-produced the film, was not present.

On Sept. 16, Affleck and Lopez enjoyeda family lunch togetherwith their kids at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge.

In December, Lopez posteda video montagerecapping her year with some memorable moments featured, including hershowstopping appearanceat the 2024Met Gala, walking the red carpet at the premiere of her movieAtlas, clips from her filmsUnstoppableandThis Is Me … Now: A Love Story.

“I am very proud of how I handle all the things. All the things,” she said in an interview included in the Instagram video, adding in another clip, “In my low moments, I’ve learned to just feel the feelings and then let them go.”
