Jennifer Lopez Is Ready to 'Start the New Year Fresh' After 'Rough' Time amid Ben Affleck Divorce (Exclusive Source)

Jennifer Lopezis looking ahead to a clean slate.

A source tells PEOPLE that the star is “focused on her own life” after filing for divorce fromBen Affleckin August.

“She has had a rough year but is doing well. She’s ready for Christmas and to start the new year fresh,” adds the source.

Lopez, 55, who shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emma with ex-husband Marc Anthony, has been busy “house-hunting for her and the kids” lately as she “would like to find another home for them,” the source says.

WhileAffleck, 52, spent Thanksgiving withhis ex-wifeJennifer Garnerandtheir three kids(Violet, 19, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12),Lopez shared a glimpse of her own festive holidayon Instagram.

“I hope everybody had a beautiful and Happy Thanksgiving. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you,” shewrotealongside a photo of herself smiling with her turkey.

Lopez’s latest filmUnstoppable, a true-story sports drama produced under Affleck’s company Artists Equity, is in select theaters now before it later streams on Prime Video Jan. 11.

Next year will also mark the release of her movie musicalKiss of the Spider Woman, whichshe has called the “most challenging and rewarding roleI’ve ever had.” She’ll also beworking on a rom-com titledOffice RomancewithTed Lasso’s Brett Goldstein, plus she’s producing a seriesadaptation of Emily Henry’s hit novelHappy Place.

Earlier this year, Lopez made the decision to cancel her summer tour to spend time with family. She teased toInterviewin October, though, that she’ll be “out there entertaining you and shaking my ass sooner than you know.”

“I can’t wait to get back out there. I have the most understanding and loving fans in the world. … I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life,” she said.

“And I’m glad I did, because it was a really difficult time for me,” continued Lopez. “Probably the hardest time of my life, but it was also the best time because I got to do that work on myself.”

Affleck, meanwhile, is also focusing on work amid the ongoing divorce negotiations. He’s currently filming a crime thriller calledRIPwith Matt Damon, and his action sequelThe Accountant 2is expected out next year. Asource said last month, “He’s very happy with life. He enjoys working. … He seems to be in a good place.”
