Jeremy Allen Whitehas a new role on the horizon.TheBearactor, 33, is set to star in and executive produce a forthcoming Netflix limited series based on André Aciman’s 2017 novelEnigma Variations. Varietywas thefirst to report the newson Jan. 27, and states that the series is currently in development.The novel chronicles the life of a man named Paul, and the romances he develops with men and women from adolescence into adulthood. Spanning Southern Italy, New England and New York City, Paul’s “hopes, denials, fears and regrets are always ready to lay their traps. Yet the dream of love lingers,” the book’s synopsis reads.
White is set to play the protagonist, Paul.

The book and film follow the romantic relationship between 17-year-old Elio Perlman (Chalamet) and doctoral student Oliver (Hammer) in Northern Italy during the summer of 1983.
