Jessica Alba Retains Divorce Lawyer amid Split from Husband Cash Warren (Exclusive Source)

Jessica Albahas retained a divorce attorney in her breakup from husbandCash Warren, a source tells PEOPLE.

Alba, 43, and Warren, 45, marriedin May 2008and share three kids: daughtersHonor, 16, andHaven, 13, and sonHayes, 7.

TMZreported Jan. 9 that the pairhave separated and are preparing for divorceafter 16 years of marriage.

After news of Alba and Warren’s breakup, a source told PEOPLE they are still “friends and all about the kids.”

“No matter what’s going on right now, it seems they will remain close,” said the source. “If they’re filing for divorce, it’snot because of some hateful drama. They still look happy together. Jess has mentioned over the years though that it’s hard to keep the spark.”

Alba and Warren first met in Vancouver in 2004 on the set ofFantastic Four. The actress played Sue Storm, while Warren worked as a director’s assistant.

Both Alba and Warren have been spotted on outings in recent weeks without wearing their wedding rings, though the pair put on a united front tocelebrate son Hayes’ 7th birthdayearlier in January.

In a crypticmessage on New Year’s Eve, Alba wrote that her 2024 was “filled with connection, growth, adventures, laughter, peace, sisterhood, transformation, rebirth, joy and so much love.” (The photo-roundup post did not feature any photos of Warren.)

She added at the time, “I’m proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family.”

“Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you,” Alba concluded.
