John Legend Teases Which of His Kids Prefers Him over Wife Chrissy Teigen: 'I Have One Out of Four' (Exclusive)

John Legendisn’t afraid to admit that he might not be the family’s favorite.

While speaking to PEOPLE for this week’s issue, the musician, 45, revealed which of his four children — daughters Luna, 8, and Esti, 19 months, and sons Miles, 6, and Wren, 14 months — prefer his wifeChrissy Teigen, 38, over him.

“Chrissy’s everyone’s favorite I think, except I might have Esti,” the “All of Me” singer tells PEOPLE.

He continues, “I think because she’s at this space where she sees me leave now, and when I come back home, she’s super clingy and she literally just wants to hug my leg and make sure I don’t leave her.”

“So I think because I leave more, she’s more attached to me when I come home,” he says, teasing, “I have one out of four.”

But, he says, even little Esti can’t charm her way into her parents' bedroom these days. “I started locking the door,” Legend says of recently putting up boundaries with his brood. “Their big thing is they want to knock on our door and come sleep with us. I’m like, ‘Y’all are not coming in our bed every time you have a little disturbance. Go back to sleep.'”

In the first picture, the proud dad smiled big with all four of his little ones as they posed in a swimming pool. In more pool pics, Legend could be seen lifting Miles above the water with just one hand.

Another shot showed Legend wearing a cheetah print robe while holding his two youngest in his arms, as his two oldest crowded around them. The next snap highlighted their youngest Wren, with his parents planting kisses on either of his cheeks.

He continued, “I want our babies AND yours to find joy and inspiration and comfort from this music. I hope it helps them fall in love with music and helps them cope with all the worries and challenges they may have. I hope the spirit of LOVE at the center of the album is contagious and palpable. And, when it’s time, I hope it helps them FALL ASLEEP (please!) and dream all their favorite dreams.”
