Kate Middletoncontinues to make a curtsy look effortless.

But first, Kate dropped into a deep curtsy for the king, delivering the royal sign of respect flawlessly in her bold, red Catherine Walker coatdress.

Over her 13 years as a working royal (and several more prior toher 2011 weddingto Prince William), Kate has become an expert at curtsying, even in some tricky situations. During a November 2023 state visit, she helped welcome South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, First Lady Kim Keon Hee to Buckingham Palace — andcurtsied while navigating stairs!

The male equivalent of the curtsy is a bow of the head, and it’s tradition for all members of the royal family to bow or curtsy to King Charles and Queen Camilla. If a royal is seen not bowing or curtsying, it usually means that they’ve already greeted the sovereign earlier that day.

While the Commonwealth Day services included plenty of royal formality, William, 42, and Kate, 43, also shared a candid moment of affection that was caught on camera. The royal couple sweetly shared a giggle as they sat together in the front of the Abbey. The location holds special meaning for the prince and princess, as it was the site of their April 2011 wedding.
