Katie Holmes' Lightweight Topper Is a Stylish Shield Against Rain Showers — and Gwyneth Paltrow Is a Fan, Too

At this point, I practically owe my whole closet toKatie Holmes— she’s like my own personal style muse.

And her Paris Fashion Week outfit may be one of my all-time favorites: For the Zimmermann show on March 10, theDawson’s Creekstar wore a light buttery yellow short trench coat (probably from the brand) that looks like it could shield against sporadic spring showers, plus warm up my arms and shoulders should the overcast cause a chill.

Then on top of her enviable jacket, not only were her pants in the same jolly hue, but they were also deep-pocket cargo pants, which are my supplement for purse-free days.

Katie Holmes’ Outfit Blueprint

Trench coats are what I envision chic Parisian women (a.k.a. the blueprint) wear on spring days, rainy or not, so naturally, I’m not going to do anything different. Andcropped onesare a celebrity-worn trend —Gwyneth Paltrowwore one last fall, ironically with a pair of cargos.

I already have a cropped trench coat that I briefly wore on vacation at the beginning of this year but have otherwise been saving for spring. I might pick up another one because when I love something, I go all in. This one is under $50, so I won’t feel guilty about buying a second version. The length is way shorter than a traditional trench coat, meaning it’s going to be even lighter to wear around, and it comes with a belt, though I prefer wearing mine without.

These cargo pants have a wide-leg silhouette, which is roomier than their straight-leg counterparts, and match the ultra-breezy look of Holmes’, whichappear to be this pair. The color isn’t an exact match, but light beige goes with practically everything, plus the material looks heavy enough that they’re not see-through. And let’s not forget,Oprah wore a similar pair, too.

Holmes’ bag is also probably from Zimmermann since she was at the brand’s show (Could it bethis one?). This Amazon lookalike is similar, though the color is much more to my liking — brown feels more wintry to me. The strap is movable, so it can be shortened or elongated, depending on how you want it to function. “I like how easy it can go from club to shoulder bag to crossbody,”wrote one shopper.
