Ke Huy Quanjumped at the chance to work onThe White Lotus.
While at the premiere of his new Netflix filmThe Electric State, theLove Hurtsactor, 53, opened up about how hissurprise cameo— in which he could be heard during a brief phone call withJason Isaacs’ Timothy Ratliff — came together for the latest season of the HBO show.
“I’m a huge, huge fan of[The]White Lotus, and [its creator] Mike White and the entire creative team,” Quan toldEntertainment Tonight. “When they asked me to do this, I said yes right away. I didn’t even hesitate.”
“I was very happy to work on this,” he added. “… Honestly, to be a part of this incredible series in any capacity, I think that’s a gift.”

During a scene in the second episode of season 3, which aired on Sunday, Feb. 23, Quan played the business partner of Isaac’s character Timothy, who was being investigated for a financial crime. The pair could be heard getting into an intense argument on the phone as they discussed the investigation.
Though Quan was not credited for the role on IMDb, reps at HBO confirmed to PEOPLE that it was the acclaimed actor on the phone call.

During that heated call, Dern berated the philandering Hollywood big shot that he was no longer on the good side of anyone in the family — including Albie (Adam DiMarco), who was visiting the White Lotus resort with Dominic and his father Bert (F. Murray Abraham) on a journey to retrace the family’s Sicilian roots.
Quan’s brief stint onThe White Lotusis not the only exciting news for him as of late. It was recently announced that aGooniesspinoff was in the works with Steven Spielberg on board to produce the film alongside Chris Columbus, who wrote the original script, according toVariety. Potsy Ponciroli was tapped to write the script for the new film.
“I’m very excited just like everybody else…,” he toldET. “I hope fingers crossed this time it will happen, because we’ve been trying for a long long time. I’m optimistic about this.”
“I would love to go on another adventure with my Goonies brothers and sisters,” he added.
