Keanu Reevesis dishing on his real-life superhero wish list.

The actor — who has joined the popular animated franchise — chatted with PEOPLE during the Los Angeles premiere ofSonic the Hedgehog 3, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday, Dec. 16.

Asked what superpower he’d most like to have in real life, Reeves, 60, says, “Well, if it was aSonicsuperpower, I’m gonna take teleportation.”

Reevesjoins the cast for this movie as villain Shadow, and tells PEOPLE, “I love theSonicfilms. I saw the first one, loved it, sawSonic 2, loved it. And so when I got invited to play Shadow, I was really excited to work with everyone who helped make the film.”

“And Shadow is such an intense character, and I like that he was intense, but he’s got a good heart, and so I got to play super intense,” he adds. “I want revenge, but then also kind of be sensitive and trying to show the good side of me.”

Sonic 3sees the return ofJim Carreyas Dr. Robotnik,Ben Schwartzas the voice of Sonic andIdris Elbaas Knuckles.

“Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before,” reads a synopsis.

Though villainous Dr. Robotnik’s fate was left unclear at the end of the second film, his return was teased in February.

The filmmakers posted aclip featuring Robotnik’s laugh on Xalongside the caption, “You all thought I was gone, but I’ve just been underground. What you’ve seen from me is only a#shadowof things to come.”

The cast also includesJames Marsden,Krysten Ritter, Lee Majdoub,Natasha Rothwell,Adam Pally,Shemar Moore,Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Alyla Browne andJames Wolk.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3is in theaters Friday, Dec. 20.
