Kim Kardashian Reveals Why Family Is Abandoning Lavish Annual Christmas Eve Party for 'Intimate' Gathering This Year

Kim Kardashianis sharing some insight into her family’s holiday plans — and why one family tradition might look a bit different in 2024.

The entrepreneur, 44, revealed in an interview withVogueat thegrand opening of her New York City SKIMS storeon Thursday, Dec. 12 that the Kardashian-Jenner family is eyeing a “really lowkey” gathering on Dec. 24 this time around, rather than their usual lavish annual Christmas Eve get-together.

“Just because we have a lot of construction going on, so we’re doing a really family intimate one that I’m really excited about,” Kardashian said.

“Still dressing up to the nines, because that’s what we do,” she added.

As Kardashian detailed, her family has had “some legendary Christmas Eve parties” over the years — from an estimated $1.3 million winter wonderland in 2018 to a 2022 get-together that featured aperformance from Siato the family’s latest Christmas Eve bash, which featured an apparentski-lodge theme.

“They’re just beginning,” Kardashian toldVogueof the headline-making festivities. “Our kids love them and now all their friends want to come. It’s such a fun tradition.”

Historically held atKris Jenner’s Calabasas mansion andgetting its start in 1978, the annual Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party has since transformed into a major get-together that’s held at the homes of other family members, including that ofKourtney Kardashian Barker.

Other famous faces have made appearances at the gathering, withJohn Legendperforming some holiday tunes back in 2018, and additional attendees over the years having includedDrake,Christina AguileraandJennifer Lopez.

Her sisterKhloé, 40, also gave fans a sneak peek at how she decorated her own home in her Instagram Stories on Dec. 2. At the time, theGood Americanco-founder showed off some green trees covered in white lights, revealing that she got decorating help fromButterfly Floral & Event Design.

“You guys have no idea how happy this season makes me,”The Kardashiansstar told fans on Snapchat. “December is my favorite month.”

Beyond celebrating the holidays, Kim has also beencelebrating her kids this month. She marked her sonSaint West’s 9th birthday with a few Instagram photos of them snuggling together on Dec. 5. The entrepreneur andKardashiansstar shares Saint — as well as daughtersNorth, 11, andChicago, 6, and sonPsalm, 5 — with ex Kanye West.

“My birthday boy Saint turns 9 today. I was going through my photos and most of our pics are snuggling cuddling pics,” Kim wrote in an Instagram caption.

“I always wanna believe that my little man will be this snuggly forever!” she added. “So cheers to one of my soulmates for being the sweetest boy. Happy birthday. I love you.”
