Liev Schreiber Calls Father-Son Outing with Sasha Schreiber 'Strange': 'He Feels Like a Man Now' (Exclusive)

On Thursday, March 6, PEOPLE caught up with thePerfect Coupleactor, 57, and his 17-year-old son at the Cirque Du Soleil New York City premiere ofLuzia.

When asked how it feels to be walking carpets with his eldest, Schreiber admitted it’s an adjustment process.

“It’s strange,” theX-Menstar tells PEOPLE. “I felt a little self-conscious walking into the circus with him because, like, it’s the kind of thing you do with your kid.”

Schreiber adds, “He doesn’t feel like my kid anymore. He feels like a man now, so, it’s a whole different thing for us.”

The actor shares two children — son Sasha and daughterKai, 16 — with ex-girlfriendNaomi Wattsand one child — daughter,Hazel Bee, 1 — with his wife,Taylor Neisen.

While speaking to PEOPLE, Schreiber says the key to remaining close with his family despite their busy schedules is having “dinner [together] every night.”

Sasha also joined in on the interview, joking that if his dad were to ever join the circus, his talent would be a “hot dog eater,” to which theRay Donovanalum agrees.

Schreiber recently gave his son a sweet shoutout at the 2025Critics Choice Awardsin early February afterthe teen encouraged his fatherto show up for the annual ceremony.

“Thank you to my beautiful wife Taylor and my son Sasha for convincing me to come,” he said. “I told them that there’s no way on God’s earth and that company that I would win this award.”

Though the actor is still getting used to a supportive Sasha attending events with him as an almost 18-year-old, walking carpets with his dad is nothing new to him.

In June 2023, Sasha was present as Schreiber attended a screening for his National Geographic limited series,A Small Light.

Sasha has followed his parents into show business. He and Kai voiced characters in Disney’s 2016 adaptation ofThe Jungle Book.
