The musician has previously been open about her relationship with her own body image and the concept of “body positivity,” which encourages people to love and accept their bodies no matter their size. In March 2024, she toldThe New York Timesthat she now thinks of herself in terms of “body neutrality.”
“The idea of body positivity, it’s moved away from the antiquated mainstream conception,” she explained. “It’s evolved into body neutrality.”
“I’m not going to lie and say I love my body every day. The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day,” she continued. “There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don’t feel completely positive.”
Lizzo also spoke about wanting to be “methodical” and consistent when it comes to her weight loss process.
“I’m taking the time every day to put some love into my body,” she toldThe New York Times. “There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates.”
“I’ve been methodical, losing weight very slowly,” Lizzo added, before responding to critics who argue that her losing weight goes against her former body positivity stance.
“My body is nobody’s business,” she insisted.
