Lori Loughlin’s latest acting role gave her a whole new perspective.
Loughlin, 60,stars as a cop for the first time in her career in Prime Video’s upcoming seriesOn Call,and the experience of being on the opposite side of the law was enlightening for her.
“It was really exciting and gave me a whole new appreciation for law enforcement,” Loughlin toldEntertainment Tonightas she revealed that the cast — which also includesTroian Bellisario,Brandon LarracuenteandEriq La Salle— “all went on ride-a-longs” with real police officers to prep for the show.
Loughlin plays Lieutenant Bishop in the “adrenalized and visceral police drama,” and she underwent a total transformation for the role.
“I was game for anything. Like when I first showed up, they were like, your highlights are gonna go, and I was like, fine,” she said. “No makeup, dark hair pulled back, uniform and just [a] very raw [look] and I jumped at the chance. I was so excited.”
She admitted of the role, “I didn’t know I had it in me — to be that badass.”

On Callfollows rookie and veteran officer duo Traci Harmon (Bellisario) and Alex Diaz (Larracuente) as they go on patrol together in Long Beach, California, per the official synopsis.
The series, which premieres with all eight episodes on Jan. 9, uses a mixture of “bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect,” as Traci and Alex settle into their new dynamic together.
